Wipe down with Armor All to clean and bring back the shine.  Do this periodically and can keep these products looking like new.

At Par Aide we use a 2-part 8-hour epoxy.  We also put a small amount of silica sand in the epoxy to fill the void.  We recommend using a 2-part epoxy that is a minimum of 4 hours.  We have found that other adhesives (super glue, guerilla glue, etc.) have not performed as well.

On your practice green use a Cupless Jr. Flagstick or Cupless Practice Target.  This will reduce or eliminate cutting cups on your practice green, thus saving you time each time you change cups.  It also can reduce wear on your practice green, as you can easily change locations mid-day if necessary.  Golfers also can move them to areas they would like to put to.

Corrosion caused by salt air, salt water, recycled water used for irrigation, or fertilizer and other chemicals, can have problematic effect on the connection between the Smarty Reflectors and the flagsticks’ metal top studs.  Over time, salt air and/or chemicals can cause a reaction, creating a substance that will effectively “cement” the Smarty to the flagstick.  The result is a Smarty that is permanently affixed to the tip.  This is not covered by the Smarty One Year Warranty.

Recommendation:  This is especially important if your club lies in a coastal region, desert region, or other region with particularly harsh conditions. It is our recommendation that you use a protective compound to help prevent corrosion to the tips of your flagsticks.  Most hardware stores, automotive stores, or marine products stores carry products designed specifically to halt corrosion caused by salt and other chemicals, and it is possible that you already have something in your maintenance building that serves this purpose.    Recommended products include:

• LOC-TITE Brand C5-A Anti-seize (recommended)
• Never-Seez Marine Grade
• Castrol Marine Grease

In addition, each day as the cup is being changed, turn the Smarty a few turns on tip of the flagstick.  If it sticks, or feels “grainy” as it turns, this is a good time to wipe down the tip and add additional anti-seize product.           

After the event is complete spray the surface with WD40 and wipe clean.
